The Édito

About

About

Katie Shayda is the founder and creative director of The Édito, a Charleston-based journal and studio devoted to style, beauty, and art.

She began her career in editing and writing, with roles at publishing houses and a local newspaper. She later spent several years living in Europe and traveling extensively, an experience that sharpened her eye for art, culture, and a more enduring approach to style—one guided by individuality and taste rather than novelty.

After returning to the United States, Katie established KS Luxe Artistry and built a longstanding practice in personal styling, makeup artistry, consulting, and creative direction. Her work has included private and celebrity clients, editorial shoots, and commercial projects, with styling and makeup published in Vogue, US Airways Magazine, South, Charleston Magazine, Skirt!, and other local and regional publications. She has also collaborated with local boutiques and fashion houses, including Armani.

Alongside her client and editorial work, Katie returned to writing, covering fashion and the Charleston shops that give the city its distinct character. Her knowledge of the local style and beauty scene later led to a partnership with The Pinch, where she served as an on-call stylist for guests looking for a more personal introduction to shopping in Charleston.

The Édito brings Katie back to her editorial roots while allowing her work in style, beauty, and creative direction to continue evolving. It draws from the full range of her experience, as well as her interests in drawing, painting, travel, and the lasting influence of Paris and French culture.
